I don’t even know why, but the last game in my backlog was Kingdom come delivery. On the one hand, the game is unique, and the setting is curious, and the visuals are impressive, it’s a pity to just take it and refuse it. On the other hand, its passage was constantly postponed, because I guessed – something was wrong with her, I also remembered from mafia 1 and the offp / arma series that the Czechs have a specific perception of reality and logic.
And now, it’s a sunny summer day, ahead of a couple of weeks of vacation, now as I plunge into the game, imbued with realism and atmosphere, it’s decided – I’m going through. I’m launching, already looking forward to testing this masterpiece of realism for elaboration and logic of actions, unheard of for the rest of the industry. After all, it was about realism that I constantly heard when mentioning this game by fans and the developers themselves. The dull cutscenes are watched and he, his majesty, gameplay begins. What to do in the morning in the village? of course, eat. I sit down at the table, I stretch my hand to the apple iiii …. lowering. The “y” button is grayed out. I do not give up and press it again, I see the inscription “This cannot be done while sitting.” Pause. I’m trying to understand what is happening, I understand that this is not a bug or a flaw, because the developers got confused with the shading of the button when performing an impossible action, and displayed an explanation on the screen, and all this to prevent the player from taking an apple while sitting at the table. I mentally interpolate this for the next 50 hours of gameplay and say something about Vavra’s mother. Pressed alt f4 – it was all over.
I don’t know if I did the right thing and if I will give the game another chance. But the game managed to do the rarest thing – to amaze, surprise from the very first seconds, make you think about yourself, about games, in a sense provoke depression. It’s just so wild to realize that someone did it deliberately, guided by some considerations.
