Initially, she was going to stay at another hotel, but Samir receives a call from her face-to-face rescuer and changes her mind, so she decides to stay at the King Hotel.
In his first appearance, Samir receives a phone call from a posh bar surrounded by women. From the moment she arrives at the King Hotel, she blatantly flirts with Chun Sa-rang, and Gu-won frowns at this appearance and criticizes Samir for being a “flirt”.
Overseas viewers pointed out that Samir was portrayed as a playboy who openly flirted with women and that an Indian actor played Samir, who was set to be an Arab prince. The actor who played Samir is Anupam Tripathi, an Indian national who made his face known by playing Ali Abdul, a Pakistani foreign worker, in the Netflix drama ‘Squid Game’.
Until the 8th, there were only 9 reviews posted on the IMDB site, but negative reviews poured in from the 9th, right following the 7th episode was released on Netflix.
One viewer who gave ‘King the Land’ a score of 1 criticized, saying, “This drama completely ignores Arab culture,” and “The characters who appear as Arabs are not even Arabs.”
Another viewer also insisted that “we (Arabs) don’t go to nightclubs” and that “all scenes featuring Arabs should be deleted.”
Regarding this, a JTBC official explained, “The characters and regions appearing in the drama are all fictitious settings, and Prince Samir is not portrayed as a prince of a specific country.”
