Venezuelan Salomón Rondón intends to return to the position of the only top scorer of the Clausura 2024 Mexican soccer tournament when his team, the Tuzos del Pachuca, visit the Tigres UANL this Saturday, in one of the most attractive duels of the fourteenth day.
With seven goals, Rondón is tied for first place among the best scorers in the championship with the Uruguayan Federico Viñas, from León, and the Paraguayan Luis Amarilla, from Mazatlán FC.
Viñas and Amarilla scored in their matches last night, tying Rondón, who has gone blank in his last two matches.
The Venezuelan forward has focused on contributing to Pachuca in the Concacaf Champions Cup, in which last Wednesday he scored a hat trick in the first leg of the quarterfinals that his team won 0-5 once morest Herediano Costa Rican.
Uruguayan Guillermo Almada, coach of the Tuzos, needs a plugged-in Rondón for his team to break a streak of three losses in a row and get out of sixth place at the expense of the Tigres, fourth in the table.
The cats were also active during the week, drawing 1-1 at the home of MLS champion Columbus Crew in the first leg of their Champions Cup quarterfinal series last Tuesday.
The Tigres, led by the Uruguayan Robert Dante Siboldi, have two wins in a row with 24 points in the fourth place of the Clausura table, just two units more than the Tuzos, for which a victory for Almada’s team might lower them from the four best four days from the end of the regular phase.
