The new airport will contribute to supporting the Kingdom’s plans to place the city of Riyadh among the ten largest cities in the world, and to keep pace with the continuous growth in the population of the capital, Riyadh, which aims to reach between 15 and 20 million people by 2030. It will compete with the region’s airports such as Dubai, Istanbul, and Doha.

The airport will work to increase its capacity to reach 120 million passengers by 2030. It also aims to reach 185 million passengers and pass up to 3.5 million tons of cargo by 2050.

The new airport will compete with the most important airports in the region, which are Istanbul Airport, with a capacity of 150 million passengers, Doha Airport, with a capacity of 58 million passengers, and Dubai Airport, with a capacity of 90 million passengers annually. It will even work to compete with them due to the geographical location that the Kingdom enjoys, a large local market, the presence of the Two Holy Mosques in the Kingdom, and other advantages.
