King Salman Center launches 7 humanitarian projects for those affected by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria

Saudi Arabia – King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center launched 7 projects for earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria.

On Tuesday, Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah, Advisor to the Saudi Royal Court and Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, delivered a speech during the opening ceremony of the projects in Gaziantep, southern Turkey.

Al-Rabiah referred to the great destruction in Turkey and Syria as a result of the earthquake on February 6, 2023, stressing that the best way to alleviate the pain of the victims is solidarity and cooperation.

He stressed that about 5,000 people will benefit from the projects, adding that they have built 3,000 houses in Syria and Turkey, victims of the earthquake, and that they are in the process of building another 1,000 houses in Hatay province.

In turn, Gaziantep Governor Kemal Çeber said that feelings such as cooperation and sharing pains that have continued since ancient times were deeply tested again after the earthquake.

He stressed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has stood with all its might by the side of the victims since the first day of the earthquake until today.

The ceremony witnessed the opening of 7 projects, including 120 cochlear implant and hearing rehabilitation surgeries, the distribution of 375 hearing aids, psychological support for 750 earthquake victims, economic support for 50 people and their integration into the workforce, the distribution of 2,000 food parcels and cleaning supplies, and the installation of prosthetic limbs for 69 amputees.

On February 6, 2023, a 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck southern Turkey and northern Syria, followed hours later by another 7.6-magnitude earthquake, and hundreds of violent aftershocks. The disaster left tens of thousands of victims.
