King of Bahrain honors Paris Olympic champions with “Efficiency Medal”

Ahmed Tag El-Din won the wrestling gold medal, while Winfried Yaffe won the athletics gold medal, Salwa Eid won the athletics silver medal, and Gor Mincian won the weightlifting bronze medal.

King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa awarded the four players the First Class Efficiency Medal in appreciation of their contributions to serving Bahrain, enhancing its sporting status, and achieving this great sporting achievement.

The Bahraini monarch said: “There is no doubt that the achievements made by the athletes will be a motivation and a continuation of the ambitions to achieve more achievements in the future, especially since they were at the level of an elite group of athletes from different countries of the world, and Bahrain’s achievement of first place in the Arab world is an achievement and a source of pride and honor.”

In turn, the players expressed their pride in being awarded these medals and in the care, support and encouragement they always receive.

Bahrain has achieved an unprecedented historical accomplishment at the level of the Olympic Games by winning 4 colored medals in a single edition of the largest sporting event held on Earth, during the current edition of the Olympics, whose competitions are being held in the French capital, Paris.

Considering what Bahrain has achieved in this edition, it has achieved a number of medals equal to what it has achieved in 10 previous participations, starting with the Los Angeles Olympics in the United States in 1984, with the participation of a sports delegation consisting of 14 athletes, 4 of whom won colored medals, meaning that more than a quarter of the delegation won medals in Paris.

Bahrain came in first place in the Arab world and 33rd in the world out of about 204 countries participating in the Olympics.
