A brand new book dedicated to King Charles III has just appeared in bookstores. In “Our King: Charles III – The Man And The Monarch Revealed”, author Robert Jobson notably addresses the growing tensions in recent years within the British royal family. He thus returns to the conflicting relationship between the new sovereign and Prince Harry, who decided to free himself from his royal obligations and move to the United States with his wife Meghan Markle in 2020.
”Charles initially thought that things would still work out between him and Harry following the Megxit. But Harry continued to need funds. And this, while Charles had already told him that he did not have enough money to continue paying for the excesses of Meghan Markle. Prince Harry first called his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. But the latter did not want to come between her son and her grandson. So she asked Harry to call Charles directly. But following a while it didn’t work anymore. Charles stopped answering the phone because he knew Harry only contacted him because he needed the money. When Queen Elizabeth asked him why he no longer spoke to Harry, he replied: ‘I am not a bank’”, writes Robert Jobson in particular in his book.
New revelations that will not help Meghan Markle’s reputation with fans of the British monarchy. Robert Jobson even goes further in his book, since he writes that the queen “feared that Harry was totally blinded by his love for Meghan”. “All that mattered to him was that Meghan got everything her heart desired, and he was ready to ask anyone for help. Unfortunately, his thirst for money made him lose the trust of the royal family”.
On May 6, King Charles will officially accede to the throne during a coronation ceremony. A highly anticipated event, which may be without Prince Harry and Meghan, since the couple has still not communicated regarding their presence. Are the tensions still at their peak? We will have to wait until next month to find out for sure.
