King Charles III will remove private security from his brother, Prince Andrew

LONDON (EFE).- The King of the United Kingdom, Carlos III, will eliminate Prince Andrew’s private security service from next November, British tabloid The Sun reported on Sunday.

The monarch himself has funded the Duke of York’s private security team since he lost public police protection in 2022 after his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, stripped him of all military titles and royal patronages following his involvement in a sex scandal.

Now, members of the security team have been informed that their services will not be needed starting in November.

“Everyone is speculating whether this means the Duke will have to leave Royal Lodge – a residence close to Windsor Palace – because what other reason would there be to remove his security?” a palace source told The Sun, adding that it is “no secret” that Charles III wants him out.

Where does Prince Andrew live?

Earlier this year, it was reported that Andrew had turned down an offer to move from Royal Lodge to nearby Frogmore Cottage and it was said that the Duke of York had signed a 75-year lease on the mansion in 2003.

In January, reports suggested that Andrés would have to finance the multimillion-dollar security costs of the Royal Lodge if he wanted to stay in the 30-room mansion.

On the other hand, the pressure on Andrew is increasing after the revelation of hundreds of pages of court documents related to the scandal of the American tycoon. Jeffrey Epstein.

Specifically, some pages in which Epstein’s former butler, Juan Alessi, stated that the Duke of York received daily massages when he spent “weeks” at the financial magnate’s home in Florida and that both Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, were friends of Epstein and the now-convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell.

Accusations of abuse

Previous allegations that Andrew sexually assaulted Virginia Giuffre three times when she was 17 also resurfaced in court documents; though the prince denied the allegations and in 2022 paid her a multimillion-dollar sum to settle a civil case out of court, claiming he never met her.

The tabloid revealed that both Charles III and Andrew are at Balmoral Palace in Scotland this weekend.
