The King Arthur closes the doors of his kingdom Sunday August 27 with the Black Eyes Peas concert. The festival will have brought together more than 70,000 people – festival-goers, volunteers, technicians, etc. confused – for three days, in Bréal-sous-Montfort, near Rennes. A memory!

Last year was already a record with 50,000 festival-goers. We are happy with the enthusiasm. This year confirms the post-Covid recovery. We were full by mid July. It’s reassuring. We can prepare the sequel serenely.

On the side of volunteersthey are 1 200 to take part in the festival each day. “They mark their comeback. After 15 years of existence, it allows us to gain confidence for the future,” says Anthony Launay.

Enhance the festival experience

Nadege Courrousethe production manager, was pleased that there were very few incidents and discrepancies in the concerts: “We were able to offer a festival experience to match”.

The King Dôme, a new festive venue for this 2023 edition, has fulfilled all its promises. “The early festival-goers were thus able to find themselves in a largely Celtic historical musical proposal, but also punk and rock. Festival-goers are happy with this new scene. There is a real audience. The new location will return next year.

« Budget fragile »

However, the organization shows a worry. “We have a fragile budget and the production cost soars. This is a complicated point. For the technicians, the difficulties have appeared for a few weeks. »

So, faced with this situation, what option will the festival choose? Increase ticket prices or the number of festival-goers? Looking for new grants or partners? “There is a balance to be found”insists the organization.

On the programming side, the balance is “successful”

“We achieved a certain balance in the programming,” explains Adrien Gaillard, director in charge of programming. “The program was enough rap tour This year. With an average age of 36-37 years, but many festival-goers who arrive and are between 15-18 years old, the objective is to retain them, ”he analyzes.
