Amman – King Abdullah II of Jordan confirmed yesterday, Tuesday, his country’s rejection of any plan to displace Palestinians, considering that reaching a permanent ceasefire in Gaza is a “top priority.”

The meeting was attended by the Director General of the Jerusalem Endowments and the Affairs of the Blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, Muhammad Azzam Al-Khatib Al-Tamimi, Patriarch Theophilus III, Patriarch of Jerusalem and the rest of Palestine and Jordan, and the General Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian territories, Muhammad Hussein.

The statement stated that King Abdullah affirmed that “Jordan continues to support and empower the Palestinian brothers in their steadfastness on their land, in their homes, and in their holy places, and in their defense of Holy Jerusalem and the Islamic and Christian holy sites therein.”

He also reiterated “Jordan’s rejection of any plan to displace Palestinians,” stressing “to confront with full force the continuing Israeli violations in the West Bank, especially in Jerusalem and its holy sites.”

He pointed out the need to “stop settler violence and the escalation that will push the region towards the abyss.”

King Abdullah said, “Achieving a permanent ceasefire in Gaza is a top priority in light of the humanitarian catastrophe in the Strip,” calling on Israel to “immediately enter sufficient aid to all parts of Gaza.”

On Monday, the UN Security Council issued a resolution, supported by 14 countries (out of 15), demanding an “immediate” ceasefire in Gaza during the month of Ramadan, respected by all parties, leading to a “permanent and sustainable” ceasefire, while the United States refrained from… Vote.
