Easter is approaching, and many citizens will buy Easter egg chocolate to make children happy. The Centre for Food Safety of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department today (June 6) appealed to the public not to consume an imported chocolate product as the food may be contaminated with the pathogenic Salmonella bacteria. If the industry holds affected products, they should immediately stop using or selling them.
The product information is as follows:
Product Name: Egg Hunt Kit Brand: Kinder Origin: Belgium Net weight: 150 grams per pack Best before this date: August 21, 2022 Importer: City Super Limited |
A CFS spokesman said that through the Food Incident Surveillance System, the CFS was informed earlier that the UK Food Standards Agency and the Irish Food Safety Authority had issued a notice that some Kinder products were being recalled locally due to possible salmonella contamination. Upon learning of the incident, the CFS immediately contacted major local importers and retailers to follow up. A preliminary investigation found that the products mentioned in the notice were not sold in Hong Kong. Afterwards, the CFS learned that the Irish Food Safety Authority issued another circular to expand the recall scope to cover more Kinder products. The CFS then followed up with major importers and retailers and found that the above-mentioned products had been imported into Hong Kong. The relevant importer has suspended the sale of the affected products and removed them from the shelves, and started recalling them.
The spokesman appealed to members of the public to stop consuming the above-mentioned affected products and call their hotline 2736 3866 during office hours to inquire regarding the recall of the products. If the trade is in possession of the product, it should immediately stop using or selling it.
