[이데일리 권혜미 기자] Volleyball Empress Kim Yeon-kyung (34, Heungkuk Life Insurance) and Cho Kyu-seong (24, Jeonbuk Hyundai), who became a hot topic with multi-goals at the ‘2022 Qatar World Cup’, were revealed to be junior high school seniors and juniors of 10 years apart.
Kim Yeon-kyung, who revealed that she watched the World Cup match, left a message of support for Cho Kyu-seong.
From 2001 to 2003, Kim Yeon-kyung developed her dream of becoming a player in the volleyball team at Wongok Middle School in Ansan, Gyeonggi-do, and Cho Kyu-seong was a member of the soccer team at the same school from 2011 to 2013.

After finishing the professional volleyball Pepper Savings Bank match held at Samsan World Gymnasium in Incheon on the 10th, Kim Yeon-kyung said, “I recently found out that Kyu-seong Cho is a junior in middle school.” Then, he laughed, saying, “(Cho Kyu-seong) and the soccer team players expressed their feelings that they fought without regret.”
Kim Yeon-kyung said, “I would have said that because the players themselves know well whether or not they gave everything. I was very moved by the way the national soccer team poured out everything with all their might,” he said.
“I also watched this World Cup as a citizen,” he said. “(At the time of the Tokyo Olympics) I have no regrets left. The soccer team players seem to feel that way. I am very proud as a player like him.”
Meanwhile, at the ‘2020 Tokyo Olympics’ held last year, women’s volleyball wrote a miracle called the semifinal myth.
In this ‘2022 Qatar World Cup’, the Korean national soccer team was tied with three teams of Uruguay, Ghana, and Portugal and was said to be the weakest, but broke everyone’s expectations and advanced to the round of 16.
