Production company CJ ENM “Need a recovery period following jaw fracture surgery”

Singer Kim Seong-gyu is leaving the musical ‘Kinky Boots’, but musical actor Kim Ho-young joins.

Production company CJ ENM released a press release on the 13th and announced that Kim Seong-gyu, who plays ‘Charlie’, will be leaving ‘Kinky Boots’ to recover following surgery due to a fracture of the mandible.

CJ ENM explained, “According to the opinion of a specialist that sufficient treatment and recovery period are necessary, it was judged that it would be difficult to return within the performance schedule, so we inevitably gave the news that he was leaving.”

Infinite’s Kim Seong-gyu suffered a jaw injury earlier this month and was hospitalized for treatment.

Kim Ho-young fills in the vacancy of Kim Seong-gyu, who has left.

Kim Ho-young also participated in the 2016 and 2018 seasons of Kinky Boots.

‘Kinky Boots’, which gained popularity with its colorful costumes and a unique material called ‘drag queen’ (a male singer disguised as a female singer), opens at the Grand Theater of the Chungmu Art Center in Seoul on the 20th of last month and will perform until the 23rd of October.

This musical is the story of ‘Charlie Price’, the president of a shoe company on the brink of bankruptcy, and the drag queen ‘Lola’ to create kinky boots for men and to revive the company.

This is the fifth season since it premiered in Korea as a licensed performance in 2014.

Lee Seok-hoon and Shin Jae-beom, along with Kim Ho-young, who joined this time, will play the role of Charlie.
