Kim Kardashian spoke to host Angie Martinez on the IRL podcast regarding joint custody of children with ex-husband Kanye West, as well as the consequences of breaking up with him and the Balenciaga scandal.
Kim admitted that she wants to protect her children from “all this crazy shit” that comes following public antics rapper. Speaking of this, the reality TV star burst into tears. “If they don’t know what people are talking regarding or what’s going on in the world, why would I bring this energy to them? It’s heavy and adult stuff, real shit that they’re not ready to deal with.”
She also compared the way her children are now living with her own childhood: “I had the best dad, I had the best memories and wonderful experiences, and that’s all I want for my children.”
Kim admitted that when the children ask her regarding their father’s antics, she will be ready for it, but for now she remains silent. “Until then, I will do my best to make their lives as normal as possible,” she said. “We go to school and they want to listen to their father’s music, no matter what’s going on in the world. I have to have a smile on my face, I have to listen to his music, sing along and act like everything is in order.” She noted that alone with herself she can cry to her heart’s content.
Kim noted that always defended ex-husband in the eyes of their children for their own sake. “One day my children will be grateful to me that I don’t scold their father publicly at every opportunity,” she added.
Kim Kardashian filed for divorce with Kanye West in February 2021. They have four children together: North, Chicago, Saint and Psalm. Divorce passed with scandals – Kanye West, suffering bipolar disorderpractically stalked his wife, threatened her new lover Pete Davidson, and also often found himself in the center scandals.
Kim mentioned relations with Pete Davidson and said it was an unusual experience for her. “I didn’t know what dating was for so long,” she said, noting that she was in a relationship with Kanye West for a very long time. She noted that because of her husband’s reputation, many men afraid enter into a relationship with her. “I don’t think it’s fair to put someone in that position,” Kim commented.
Kardashian also spoke out regarding scandals around the Balenciaga brand, of which she has been the face of for a long time. Previously, the brand was accused of promoting pedophilia due to ads where children are photographed with BDSM-style accessories.
She stated that people were angry because she did not speak out regarding the campaign, although she “did not take part in it.” According to Kim, following she saw the ad campaign, she publicly denounced it. “People get mad if I don’t speak up. They get mad if I speak up but don’t ‘cancel’. They get mad if you don’t ‘cancel’ someone in today’s society.”
