Kim Boutin subscribed to the silver at the worlds, the farewell of Charles Hamelin in bronze

Boutin won her third silver medal of these World Championships in the 1000m, an event in which two Canadian skaters competed at the Maurice-Richard Arena.

The 27-year-old Sherbrooke native finished in 2nd place, with a time of 1 min 28 s 276/1000, behind South Korean Minjeong Choi. New Brunswicker Courtney Sarault fell on the last lap.

In the B final, Germany’s Anne Seidl (1:30.882) won, and Alyson Charles (1:31.498) finished in 5th and last place in the group.

Boutin then won his fourth silver medal in the 3000m, finishing second, just behind Minjeong Choi, once more.

With a victory, Boutin would have taken the title in the cumulative standings. She finally took 2nd position.

With his victory, Dion became vice-world champion in the general classification.

The 27-year-old won the 1000m B final with a time of 1:26.931.

No Canadians took part in the A final. Shaoang Liu of Hungary won with a time of 1:25.462, confirming the defense of his title in the overall standings.

Steven Dubois was eliminated in the semi-finals, while Jordan Pierre-Gilles was stopped in the quarters.
