According to Jamaat-e-Islami in Pakistan, its emir Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman went to Doha to attend the funeral prayer of Ismail Haniya, while Maulvi Abdul Kabir, the deputy prime minister of the Taliban in Afghanistan, also arrived in Qatar.
Protests were held in many cities of Pakistan on Friday itself. Protests were also held in Lahore and Karachi to express solidarity with the Palestinian people.

It was further said that ‘this House expresses its support for the Palestinian brothers and expresses its condolences on the martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh.’
The resolution also demanded an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
Later, while speaking in the National Assembly, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that he is grateful to the House for the approval of this resolution.

Who was Ismail Haniya?
Ismail Haniyeh has been the face of Hamas’s international diplomacy and was part of the cease-fire negotiations during the Israeli offensive on Gaza.
Born in northern Gaza in 1962, Ismail Haniyeh received his early education as a refugee at a United Nations school.
He was associated with the Palestinian freedom struggle in his youth and spent several times in Israeli jails in the 80s and 90s.
