Killed by coronavirus: Asmalovskaya was 41 years old, Nevzorov and Grachevsky left little children orphans

Unfortunately, in October 2020, shortly before his 84th birthday, Roman Viktyuk ended up in a clinic with a coronavirus infection. A month later, when it seemed that the danger had passed, the director was transferred for rehabilitation to the Moscow Hospital for War Veterans, where he died immediately following admission.

“Our Master is gone – a great, unsurpassed director, teacher, genius, lump, magician, who, it would seem, should be forever. Because he is from other galaxies, from other worlds, from where come those who bring only light, love, creativity, meanings to the world. Because he is our everything. Roman Viktyuk is not just a legendary director who made an invaluable contribution to art, one of the most important figures in Russian and world theatrical life. There are no words to describe the extent and depth of our loss. It is impossible to appreciate what he gave to each of us. It is impossible to realize the grief that has overtaken each of us – his artists, students, colleagues, spectators, admirers. We are all his children. Who will have to learn to work, breathe, live once more. For his sake, for his theatre, which was his favorite and most important creation, for our own sake. We will have to get used to the word “was” for a long time,” the Roman Viktyuk Theater reported on social networks.
