Lucky Ticket Brings Early Holiday Cheer for Local Man
The excitement of the holiday season arrived early this year for a Kilkenny resident who scratched his way to €20,000 using a seasonal “Merry Money Scratch Card.”
The lucky winner purchased the €5 ticket at O’Keeffe’s Daybreak, situated on Market Street in Thomastown, while on his way to work.
“I was sitting in the car, enjoying my morning coffee, and decided to scratch the card before heading into work,” he explained.
Initially, he couldn’t believe his eyes.
“When I first saw that I won €20,000, I couldn’t believe it. I ran straight back into the shop to ask the assistant to scan the ticket to make sure I wasn’t seeing things. It wasn’t until then that I actually let myself believe the win,” he shared.
When asked how he planned to spend this unexpected windfall, he smiled and said, “I’m not 100% sure what I’ll do with the winnings just yet, but I’m certain there’ll be a sunny trip on the cards next year.”
