To the attention of the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Mr. V. Kikilia

Dear Minister,

Following our visit, on 12/08/2024, to the Operations Center of the Ministry, where we were briefed on the devastating fires affecting Attica, the Chief of the Fire Department stated, among other things, that since the start of the fire, a total of 32 aerial extinguishing media.

However, both media reports and resident accounts cast doubt on the reported number of aerial vehicles operating.

In order for the Greek people, who are entitled to know, to be fully informed, I convey to you, as the competent Department Head of the SYRIZA-PS Committee, the request of the Official Opposition, and personally of the President St. Kasselakis, as we were granted the material from the relevant recording system, as well as the file with the relevant flight permits, from the start of the fire in Attica, until 21:30, when the aerial vehicles stopped flying due to darkness.

We intend to request the data through the parliamentary channel as well, however, since this is a more time-consuming process, we request immediate answers that the public has a right to know.

Thanks and I look forward to it,

Simeon Kedikoglou

Member of Parliament of Evia

Head of Department for Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, SYRIZA-PS.”
