Rwanda wants to make sport a factor of reconciliation. The 2022 edition of the Kigali International Peace Marathon will take place on May 29 and will attract runners from different corners of the world, its organizers revealed on Friday. The Rwanda Athletics Federation (RAF) said the amateur race aims to use the sport in the process of healing and reconciliation following the 1994 Genocide once morest the Tutsi. The competition will be divided into several stages, including a full marathon (42 km), a half marathon (21 km) and another “Run For Peace” stage for amateur runners. Prior to the competition, Rwanda will also organize the “Kigali Night Run” which should attract participants from all walks of life.
