That’s what it’s about

  • Two children of steakhouse heiress Christina Block and her ex-husband Stephan Hensel were kidnapped in Denmark.

  • Hensel was watching New Year’s Eve fireworks with the children when he was attacked and the children were kidnapped.

  • Christina and her ex-husband have been in a custody battle over their children for years.

Christina Block (49), the partner of German TV legend Gerhard Delling (64), is at the center of a kidnapping drama that took place in Denmark. On New Year’s Eve, Christina Block’s ex-husband Stephan Hensel and two of their children, Klara (13) and Theodor (10), watched the fireworks in the “Caféodora” restaurant in the Danish town of Gravenstein, which has a population of 4,000. Suddenly they were attacked by several men who knocked Stephan Hensel down. The children were forced into a rental car and the kidnappers fled in two vehicles, as “Bild” reports.

Investigation into bodily harm and false imprisonment

The Danish police immediately launched a manhunt, and at 1:07 a.m. the German federal police were also informed. Two patrol cars were parked at the border because there was a possible kidnapping. At 2:53 a.m., the Schleswig-Holstein state police took over the investigation, and the Hamburg police are now also involved. However, the two children are still in an unknown location. It is being investigated for bodily harm and deprivation of liberty.

The kidnappers used two vehicles registered in Germany – a Citroën DS7 Crossback with registration number DN-AV 9551 and a Mercedes A-Class with registration number WI-W 6481 E. Neither the German nor the Danish authorities yet know the whereabouts of the children.

Years of custody battle

Christina and her ex-husband have been in a custody battle over their children for years. In the summer of 2021, Stephan Hensel kept Klara and Theodor with him after a visit to Denmark. Since then, Christina Block and her partner Gerhard Delling have been fighting to have the children returned to Germany. The eldest daughter Johanna (17) is supposed to live with Hensel voluntarily. Christina Block lives in Hamburg with daughter Greta (15).

The tense family situation was exacerbated by the death of mother Christa (82) in July. The children were not allowed to say goodbye to their grandmother. Christina Block spoke out shortly before Christmas about how alienated she feels from her children. “I sent gifts and letters to the three of them – but I don’t know whether they will arrive,” said Christina Block to “Bild”. The mother also had doubts that her ex-husband would give the gift.
