‘Kidnapping’ attempt, CTD Punjab official arrested: Peshawar Police

Police officials in Peshawar said on Tuesday that an official of the Punjab Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) tried to ‘forcefully take away’ a local contractor from an area called University Town, who has been arrested.

According to the police, the incident took place in the University Town area of ​​Peshawar around 6 pm on Monday.

Speaking to Independent Urdu, SSP Operations Peshawar Kashif Zulfikar confirmed the arrest of the official and said that a case has also been registered at the University Town police station.

He said that ‘CCTV footage of the raid is also available in which it can be seen that the local people caught the official and handed him over to the police.’

According to Kashif Zulfikar, “During the search, several cards were also recovered from the accused and the arrested accused is an official of CTD Faisalabad who tried to pick up the citizen without informing the Peshawar police.”

He further informed that ‘According to CTD Punjab, the person who was raided is a suspect, but no case has been registered against the contractor.’

According to the lawsuit: ‘As soon as I came out, armed men attacked me in a Vigo car without number plate, with the intention of abducting me, but in the meantime my son and other relatives saved me. Meanwhile, other persons escaped but we caught one of them and handed over to the police.

During the detention, the CTD official has given his position to the police and said that ‘they pick up suspicious people under the operation against the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and for this purpose they had come to Peshawar to catch some targets.’
