“You have shattered and betrayed the neutrality and sovereignty of Austria. You are the perpetrators, and the Austrian population is your victim.” FPÖ leader Herbert Kickl found his usual sharp words in parliament late on Wednesday afternoon towards the government. A special meeting took place there at an even later time than usual, at the request of the Freedom Party. The reason for the debate about Austria’s neutrality and sovereignty – both of which the FPÖ has seen as being in danger for a long time – is the national holiday that is just around the corner tomorrow, Thursday.
