Kia Picanto 2022: Discover the Sporty and Sophisticated Updates | Europe Release and Engine Options

Although it no longer reaches the sales level of several years ago, Kia continues to bet on the A segment and that is why it decided to update the Picanto once once more, which received the most profound transformation of the current generation. Unveiled in South Korea, the citycar now stands out for a much sportier and more sophisticated look, with improvements also in the interior.

Aesthetically, the entire front was redesigned and now has much straighter and more marked lines, typical of the new Opposited United philosophy. The T-shaped headlights stand out above all, with three LED projectors and a light signature that replicates its contour. The Tiger Nose grill received a chrome appliqué, while the bumper sports a prominent trapezoidal air intake and two similar air ducts at the ends in the case of the GT-Line version, with a more sporty character.

In profile, the modifications are less important and include new designs for the 14, 15 and up to 16″ alloy wheels and the addition of a side skirt for the GT-Line, while at the rear the headlights are now more format vertical and also extend across the width of the gate. This sector is finished off with a simile diffuser that helps to give it that more aggressive image.

Inside, the changes are somewhat subtle, but they can be perceived: a new 100% digital instrumentation configurable by the driver and a new multimedia system with an 8-inch touch screen, which can receive remote updates, is released. This sector is also enhanced by the option of two-tone upholstery, which combines black with brown or green. The most important thing is the provision of security, with driving systems such as autonomous emergency braking at intersections, detection of vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians, lane maintenance system, recognition of traffic signs with speed limiter and fatigue detector, among other items.

Mechanically, the renewed Picanto will only be available with two gasoline engines, a 1.0 three-cylinder and 67 CV or a 1.2 four-cylinder and 84 CV, coupled to a 5-speed manual gearbox or an iMT automated transmission.

His arrival in Europe will take place in the coming months. Unfortunately, there is no news regarding its possible arrival in our country, where Kia, due to obstacles to imports and internal taxes, decided to focus on higher segments.
