They represent five signs that you should pay attention to when you take a closer look at your skin – and especially your moles.

A stands for asymmetry: Healthy moles or moles are usually symmetrical. An irregular or asymmetrical shape can be a sign of skin cancer. (Pictured: A malignant melanoma)

B stands for limitation: Birthmarks and moles should be sharply defined and their edges should be even. A blurred, ragged or irregular border can indicate skin cancer. (Pictured: Cindy Crawford, whose mole is as famous as she is)

C stands for Color (Color): Healthy birthmarks and moles are usually uniformly colored. Melanomas, on the other hand, have different shades and color intensities. Pink, gray or black dots can also indicate black skin cancer.

D stands for diameter: If a mole or birthmark is larger than five millimeters, caution is advised – and a visit to the dermatologist is advisable. Melanomas often have a diameter of more than six millimeters.

E stands for sublimity: If moles or moles rise more than a millimeter above the skin and the surface is rough and flaky, this may also indicate skin cancer.

E for development: One of the most important points to consider when looking at birthmarks or moles is the development of the spot. Experts recommend checking the marks regularly. This might save lives, according to skin experts at the University of California San Francisco.

If two or more of these criteria apply, the abnormal mole should be looked at by a dermatologist.

A year ago, Khloé Kardashian had to have a dangerous skin tumor removed.
Now she has shared an update on the healing process. “I am completely cancer-free,” she writes on Instagram.
At the same time, she encourages her fans to have regular check-ups with a dermatologist.
It started with a small spot on my cheek. “For almost a year I thought it was a pimple,” writes Khloé Kardashian (39) on Instagram. But it turned out to be one It was a skin tumor that had to be removed. That was in October 2022.
Now, almost a year later, the reality TV star shows off his healing process: from the stitches to the dent left following removal. She has now had this filled up once more with injections. “I definitely first checked whether it was medically safe to do that,” says Khloé. She waited nine months before undergoing filler treatment. She thanked her doctor, Dr. Fisher. “Not only did he remove the tumor, he also made sure that I was completely cancer-free.”
The before and following comparison. Khloé’s dent on her face is noticeably more filled.

Khloé: “I’m glad my face is back to normal”
In another story slide, the 39-year-old then shows the before and following comparison. The dent has clearly receded. «I look awesome in these pictures. I’m so happy that my face is slowly getting back to normal. I have no words for it.”
Of course, the dent wasn’t her biggest concern in the first place. “I would prefer any dent to any further melanoma.” Melanoma is the technical name for black skin cancer. More than five million skin cancer diagnoses are made in the United States each year. According to the Cancer League, around 3,100 people in Switzerland develop melanoma every yearwith men and women being affected almost equally often.
Khloé Kardashian had a tumor at the age of 19
Khloé Kardashian wants to share her medical history issue a warning. “I encourage everyone to visit the dermatologist regularly and have skin cancer checks done. An examination can save your life. Even if you think there’s nothing there, it doesn’t hurt to have it checked out.” The TV personality further expresses her gratitude and humility. “I thank God for protecting me.”
It is not the first time that the American has had a malignant tumor removed. When she was 19, she had melanoma on her back. She would use sufficient sunscreen daily, but she has a hereditary predisposition and is therefore at a higher risk, as she explained on Instagram last year.
It all started with a small dot on the face. “Never thought it was melanoma.”
