General Director of Khimki Nikolay Olenev declared “Sport-Express” that the information regarding the possible closure of the club in the event of relegation from the Russian Premier League (RPL) is not true.
“We have repeatedly said that the club has an approved financial plan for five years and all investors, partners and sponsors are fulfilling their obligations. We have approved a long-term strategy for the club, which includes, among other things, a project to create a football center and an academy,” Olenev said.
The ex-captain of Khimki terminated the contract with the club following a conflict with Gogniev
Khimki investor Tufan Sadigov also denied everything. “This is all some kind of provocation around the club. Khimki has no problems, no debts. Rubin, Orenburg, Wings of the Soviets flew to the FNL, but continued to exist, someone has already managed to return to the RPL, ”said the businessman.
Earlier, journalist Sergey Ilyev said in his telegram channel that Khimki might cease to exist following leaving the RPL.
Khimki is in 15th place in the RPL standings with 13 points in 20 matches. In the next round, they will host Krasnodar on April 2.
