Actress Chulpan Khamatova was prepared for the fact that in the West she would not be welcomed with open arms and would have to work outside her profession for some time. She stated this in an interview with the portal “Spectrum».
“Today, Russian actors, to put it mildly, are not in trend,” said the artist.
In her opinion, when leaving Russia in anticipation of a “stellar career” in Europe, actors can expect “great disappointments”; they need to be prepared to “literally go to the bottom.”
“I left with the firm conviction that I would work here as a driver or courier. This will be a very difficult time for me to go through. But I still have freedom of choice, freedom to say “no” and “yes” when I consider it necessary, freedom of expression. And the inability to work in my profession for some time is a price that I will have to pay. Yes, I was ready for this,” Khamatova said.
As reported EADaily, following the start of a special military operation, Khamatova fled Russia and settled in Latvia, sharply condemning the situation in Ukraine.
