Khalaf Al Habtoor, Chairman of the Emirati Al Habtoor Group, proposed that the Gulf Cooperation Council, led by the UAE and Saudi Arabia, issue a unified currency, in which Egypt and Jordan would then enter.
Al Habtoor – one of the largest Emirati businessmen – said in an interview with CNBC Arabia yesterday, “We are in a strong position in the UAE and Saudi Arabia as well, and we can, as a Gulf Cooperation Council, launch a strong unified currency and take the lead in it.”
Khalaf Al Habtoor is an Emirati businessman and the founder and chairman of the Al Habtoor Group, one of the most successful companies in the Gulf region.
The Al Habtoor Group has started a rapid expansion plan in the hotel division in recent years and has strengthened its presence inside and outside the UAE, as well as working in the real estate and automotive sectors.
