We often saw Kevin in the criminal court this December. First, he was summoned for a revocation of suspended sentence because he appeared in a drunken state before the probation commission… even though he might no longer drink. He faces a sentence of forty months in prison. The public prosecutor requested two more years for acts of domestic violence and possession of narcotics.

Then, he appeared because he was being prosecuted for a violent robbery, committed at the home of a 91-year-old lady, on August 21. Kevin and his friend Jérôme attacked this lady in order to steal her gold jewelry. On Wednesday, the court sentenced Kevin to three years in prison and Jérôme to 30 months in prison. Both detainees were repeat offenders.

Drugs, alcohol, medication

Kevin appeared for arson, arbitrary detention and beating his partner. He recognizes a slap, fire, but not arbitrary detention. “I had spent several days without sleep, using drugs, alcohol and an anxiolytic. I hallucinated, I believed that my partner had slept with another man and that he was hiding under the sofa cushions. I lit a handkerchief on fire and threw it on the couch. This is totally irrational. However, I did not sequester her,” he said.

The public prosecutor notes that the acts were committed within the trial period. A new sentence of two years is requested. The prison stay increasingly resembles a long-term stay.

Despite everything, his lawyer still requests a probationary reprieve, declaring that Kevin was doing everything possible to prepare for his release from prison. “He wants to take control of himself,” insists Me Duvinage.

Judgment in January.
