Kevin Magnussen (Haas F1 Team) suffered from nausea in Melbourne and was absent from the press conference on Friday.
The Haas F1 Team announced on Friday, April 8 that Kevin Magnussen will not attend the driver’s press conference on Friday morning due to poor physical condition. Still, he said he could attend the practice session without any problems.
A Haas F1 Team spokesman told GP Fans that “Kevin experienced nausea at night and early this morning.”
“As a result, he will not attend the FIA press conference this morning and will recover this afternoon to prepare for FP1.”
“He’s seen by a team doctor and is expected to get going today.”
FP1 started at 1:00 pm local time, Kevin Magnussen completed 18 laps and finished 18th. He also ran 23 laps in FP2, finishing 16th.
Kevin Magnussen has won two consecutive races with the Haas F1 Team since returning to F1 this season, but suffered neck pain at the F1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
Since then, Kevin Magnussen says he has trained “crazy” to strengthen his neck.
“It was very hard. I had a nerve that was stuck and I was cramping,” Kevin Magnussen told In the Fast Lane about the problem in Saudi Arabia.
“It made my neck stiff and I couldn’t move my neck painlessly. It’s great when it happens because I need to balance my head to feel what the car is doing. It’s not a thing. I lost that feeling when I had to turn my head to the side. “
“The qualifying was great. I couldn’t really control the car in Q3. The team said that fastest laps, slow laps, and once again the fastest laps were the best way to run in qualifying. I can’t overdo it, so let’s go around the fastest lap once. “
“That’s not great, but I was expecting it. If you don’t drive an F1 car for a year, your neck will lose strength and the only way to get it back is to drive an F1 car.”
