St. Gallen forward Kevin Fiala’s future in Minnesota remains uncertain, Wild general manager Bill Guerin has confirmed.
“We would like Kevin to come back, but I don’t know if it will be possible,” Guerin said on Tuesday, as quoted by nhl.com.
‘We need to dig a little deeper and see what we might possibly do. But there is uncertainty, ”continued Bill Guerin, who is facing salary cap problems due in particular to the buyout of the contracts of striker Zach Parise and defender Ryan Suter in 2021.
The Wild have also awarded very large salaries over the past two years to Kirill Kaprizov (9 million per year) and Joel Eriksson Ek (5.25 million per season), who have signed long-term contracts. And Minnesota also hopes to keep goalkeeper Marc-André Fleury in its ranks.
Kevin Fiala, who renounced the world championship because of his contract situation, had signed for one year and 5.1 million dollars last August avoiding salary arbitration. Author of 85 points in the regular season (his record) but down in the play-off (3 points in 6 matches once morest the Blues), he will become a restricted free agent at the end of this season.
