A little Kevin Durant to attack the week, anyone? The Nets star would indeed be a target of the Celtics, who would have started discussions with Brooklyn to see what it was possible to do in order to conclude a transfer. Names that stand out? Jaylen Brown, draft picks. With the possibility of sending one of their two All Star players, the C’s may have the last word in this matter. We take stock.
Miami, Phoenix, Toronto. Here are the three teams which for the moment had made the most talk regarding them in the context of a possible transfer from KD. Today, a fourth guest enters the dance: Boston. According to Adrian Wojnarowski from ESPNthe Celtics might want to add Kevin to their team, and would be willing to send Jaylen Brown into the operation. Of course, the Nets speech has not changed at this level and JB alone will not be enough. It will therefore be necessary to add a small slew of Draft choices to add weight, and probably a few rotation players. The price tag is hefty for Boston, but securing Durant’s services might be the last step for the franchise in its quest for the title. Jayson Tatum? Out of the question for Beantown, the Celtics star is behind the redline and in all likelihood left out of the transfer schemes currently being discussed. A detail that might make Brooklyn tick? Not impossible, since the Nets have for the moment very heavy claims. Tatum emerges as Boston’s boss today, a situation that might push the Nets to want to create a trade of equals in terms of the caliber of players.

It’s also important to keep in mind that these rumors are only speculative, and that as time slowly begins to press on whether Kevin Durant really wanted to leave… information like this is likely to multiply. Of course, with the possibility of sending an All Star right away without it being a real salary headache, Boston can recover the lead of the race to the player compared to the Heat and the Suns, who would have more difficulty to compete in terms of supply without including several other teams. Note that according to other ESPN sources, the Nets would like to know what it takes to keep KD before engaging in any discussions that might lead to an actual trade. For Boston, recovering such a heavyweight would obviously be a great step forward in terms of talent, but perhaps to the detriment of a collective game developed since 2016. Without forgetting that until now, it was inconceivable to break the duo of Jay. Case to follow therefore, but a possible arrival of Brown or Tatum in Brooklyn might be funny in the sense that the Draft picks used by Boston to recover them were initially… those of the Nets.
The Nets are taking information from interested teams and are no doubt looking to up the ante by trying to enlist as many franchises as possible to negotiate. However, when you have a player like Kevin Durant at home, it makes sense to know what he needs to stay rather than what he needs to leave.
