Kevin Durant wants to see Bronny James in the NCAA

If he is currently rising in the Mock Draft of the year 2024, Bronny James has still not made the slightest decision concerning his post-high school career. NCAA? G League? Overtime Elite? Kevin Durant has given his opinion, remains to be seen what LeBron thinks.

Now, more than ever, young prospects have options to try to make it into the NBA one day. Many are taking the so-called classic route, i.e. going to university following high school, but more and more are thinking outside the box to favor other paths like the G League (Scoot Henderson, Jalen Green, Jonathan Kuminga…) or the Overtime Elite program (the twins Amen and Ausar Thompson), and others even decide to leave the States (LaMelo Ball) to play abroad.

NCAA, G League, Overtime Elite, foreign championships: zoom on the different formations before taking the plunge into the NBA

Bronny James, LeBron’s sonwill soon have to make a choice.

He is in his last year of high school at Sierra Canyon and will have to commit somewhere for the 2023-24 season, before appearing in the 2024 Draft. Offers from prestigious universities, he already has quite a few: Kentucky , Memphis, Michigan, Oregon, USC or even Ohio State, for whom he also posed a few months ago. We can therefore imagine him opting for the NCAA, although rumors sending him to the G League Ignite also surrounded son James a few months ago.

“I think college basketball is still the best path, because you’re on the big stage, you can show off, and the tournament [la March Madness, ndlr.] is a big event,” Kevin Durant recently said on Boardroom.

I would love to see Bronny in college instead of taking another path like the G League or Overtime Elite, where players disappear for a year (laughs). I want to be able to follow him on his journey in real time. […] If he goes to USC (located in Los Angeles, Ed.), it will be easy for Bron to go to the game.

In times of March Madness, we can only validate the words of Kevin Durant. Almost all eyes are now on the NCAA final tournament in the States, and it is especially at this time of year – three months before the NBA Draft – that prospects can make a name for themselves or raise their rating if they perform on the courts.

In the G League, abroad or within the Overtime Elite program, the visibility is less but these options advance other arguments : possibility of obtaining a salary, proximity to the NBA (especially for the G League), discovery of professional basketball once morest experienced players (especially abroad), more individual freedom on the court (especially in the G League and Overtime Elite) vs. college play…

It will be up to Bronny James to weigh the pros and cons of each option. With obviously LeBron who will be there to advise and guide him.
