It was a black anger that turned into a tragedy. The day of July 21 was dark for Kevin Crys Mitoukou. That day in Port-Gentil during the day, his 9-year-old cousin passed away following the blows she received from her Yaya. Indeed, trying to sleep in his studio after work, Kevin Crys Mitoukou got angry with his 9-year-old cousin and his 7-year-old cousin who were emitting astonishing cries while playing. Wounded up, he summoned them to severely correct them. This umpteenth time, Kevin Crys Mitoukou’s cousin, upon receiving this volley of blows from a stick, fell to the ground with her neck and died on the spot.
“I am here because I had to help my cousin. While pulling my cousin from behind she fell by the neck, unfortunately we could not resuscitate her and so she died. For my cousin, I gave a few slaps. I let myself get carried away,” he says, without apparent remorse.
The alleged perpetrator of the homicide was not at his first act. Only, like any good normal child, the two toddlers and some other children of the common courtyard were in the habit of playing together in the joy and gaiety that we know of little ones of this age. Indeed, in this summer period, the classes dance and move to the rhythm of the agitations of the kids who enjoy their holidays after a school year full of emotions. What Kevin Crys Mitoukou had probably not understood, he who, very often had a hand that did not bend in the face of the yelps of these young children.
“It’s something that used to happen at home, the children in the yard would take down the door of my little studio. And I realized it when I woke up early, that’s when I warned the parents several times who didn’t pay attention. So I decided to help my little cousin and my little cousin who were dragging the other children along,” he confesses.
He was arrested by the elements of the General Directorate of Research (DGR) for the need of investigations. In front of the investigators, the man in tears did not deny the facts of fatal blows to be reproached to him. Regretting his gesture which cost the death of his cousin, his conscience does not cease to devour his morale in view of the gravity of the act.
For him, “it was the first time I acted like that but I have never done anything like that, I got carried away and I regret it; I went very far and I tell my parents to understand me, it was anger.”
Brought before the Public Prosecutor at the Court of First Instance of Port-Gentil, Kevin Crys Mitoukou received his committal warrant to be placed in the Château remand center while awaiting his trial.
