Clayton Kershaw will stay with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
According to reports issued on Friday by different media, the 33-year-old pitcher, who had declared himself a free agent, agreed for one season to remain in the only team in which he has played in the Major Leagues.
The formalization of the contract depends on the approval of a medical examination.
Kershaw posted a photo of himself on Instagram, with the caption: We’re back!”
The three-time Cy Young Award-winning pitcher will turn 34 next week. He is regarding to start his 15th season in the majors.
An eight-time All-Star, Kershaw is 185-84 in his career.
Kershaw went 10-8 with a 3.55 ERA last season, in which he had 144 strikeouts.
He missed the entire postseason, in which the Dodgers came within two wins of returning to the World Series, with a forearm injury that also sidelined him from games in the second half of the season.
He received an injection in his arm, and was expected to be ready for preseason.
Kershaw and the Dodgers won the 2020 World Series following the pandemic-shortened season.
