Bayer 04 Leverkusen have confirmed what was only a formality anyway: Midfielder Kerem Demirbay leaves the “Werkself” and joins Galatasaray. The Süper Lig club meanwhile published the transfer terms: Leverkusen will receive 3.7 million euros, the professional will sign a three-year contract and will receive a net payment of one million euros in the future.
Market value of Kerem Demirbay
“Because of his family roots, moving to Turkey was a specific concern for Kerem. We wish him all the best at Galatasaray and thank him for his commitment to Bayer 04,” said managing director Simon Rolfes. Demirbay, who came from TSG Hoffenheim for 32 million euros in 2019, was under contract with the Bundesliga club until 2024.
Demirbay’s market value is currently estimated at EUR 6 million. Gala is said to have initially offered 1.5 million euros, which was not enough for Bayer to give up the two-time DFB player. Recently there had also been rumors of interest from Al-Shabab FC, but Bayer is said not to have received an offer from Saudi Arabia. Demirbay was mostly seeded last season, but the Bundesliga club is well positioned in central midfield with new signing Granit Xhaka, Exequiel Palacios, Robert Andrich and talent Noah Mbamba.
