A narrow room whose occupants might barely move between its four walls, its dilapidated door closed with great care, knowing what awaits him following his crime. He held his automatic weapon ready to fire, his heart speaking to him before his mind with an inevitable end overnight.
Dozens of kilometers away from Nazlat al-Batran in the Haram neighborhood, west of Giza, a beehive of police officers was working in full swing there at a crime scene that shook public opinion, killing lawyer Bandari Hamdi with gunshots inside his office in the village of Abu Rawash, Kerdasa Center.
Intense focus accompanied by a careful analysis of the information collected by the detectives regarding the perpetrator. The surveillance cameras installed inside the office captured a few seconds, which were sufficient to reveal the identity of the killer, who was called “Muhammad F.” And his fame is “Mohamed Khairiya”.
A few meters away from the office stained with the blood of the thirty-year-old victim, one of the officers shouted, intending to gather the criminal investigation leaders, “We have located the accused, regret.” Words echoed on the features of the research team, giving them an opportunity to catch their breath in light of the high-level interest of the Ministry and the Bar Association in the case.
Away from the hustle and bustle of the audience and the wailing of the dead’s family, Lieutenant Colonel Hani Imad, head of investigations at Kerdasa, developed an elaborate plan to catch the accused, bearing in mind the seriousness of the mission because the latter possesses a firearm that they will not hesitate to use, “it will remain life or death.”
At dawn on Wednesday, a secret mission headed to the suspect’s hiding place, “Khairiya”, supervised by Colonel Tamer Saleh, the investigation inspector of the North October Division, with the participation of Major Ahmed Fayez and Captain Ibrahim Farouk, assistants of the Kerdasa investigations, in coordination with the Haram Division, led by Colonel Hani Al-Husseini.
The element of surprise had the final say. The accused woke up to find the policemen on top of his head, temporarily losing his speech, trying to comprehend what was going on – inside a room he rented – to search for his weapon, which he embraced before he fell asleep. With his distinguished presence and his usual smile, lawyer Bandari Hamdi Ahmed began his work in the old courthouse, amid the astonishment of some of his excessive activity and his insistence on shaking hands with the majority of his colleagues, as if he was saying goodbye to them, and then leaving for his office in the village of Abu Rawash in the Kerdasa district.
As the sun set, someone came asking to see Bandari to let him in. A few moments were enough to change the scene to be dominated by the color of blood in a treacherous crime. No sooner had the worker heard the sound of gunfire than he rushed inside to shout in a loud voice, “Mr., are you killed, join us?”
A few minutes were sufficient for the arrival of the people and the police. An inspection of Colonel Tamer Salih, inspector of the investigations of the North October Division, showed that the corpse of a thirty-year-old lawyer in his office near the electricity company called “Bandari.H.H” was shot dead in mysterious circumstances.
Under the supervision of Major General Ahmed Al-Wateidi, Director of Criminal Investigations in Giza, it was found that the perpetrator fired a batch of bullets with an automatic rifle, two of which hit a sensitive area of the dead man’s body, killing him before he was transferred to Sheikh Zayed Specialist Hospital.
Returning to the Haram area, the police office escorted the accused with a criminal record – who has previous criminal information – to the Kerdasa Police Station in the Smart Village to make detailed confessions of his crime and his possession (automatic rifle – 10 safes – 300 rounds) and the motorcycle used to escape.
The accused is one of the clients of the victim in a case of alimony for his wife, and when judgments were issued in favor of the other party, he decided to take revenge on the lawyer and killed him inside his office to justify the reason: “He destroyed me and ruined my house.”
The picture is complete, and it remains only for the accused to carry out the representative inspection of his crime amid tight security – under the supervision of Major General Ismat Haridi, head of the October Sector – before he was taken to his prison pending his referral to the urgent criminal trial on charges of premeditated murder.
