Kerameos: “We are hitting undeclared and implied work” – 2024-07-07 13:25:50

The Minister of Labor and Social Security, Niki Kerameos, he answered regarding the expansion of the digital work card and how it affects the working hours of employees, stressing that in this way “we hit undeclared and implied work”.

The digital job card it is expected to be extended to the tourism and catering sectors, a fact for which, as he said, there will be a consultation beforehand. She emphasized that “labor inspection controls have increased”, something that can be seen from the fines. “We have 40 million euros a year collected from fines from the checks carried out by the labor inspectorate,” he stressed.

The minister also addressed the issue of six-day work, saying that there is no such issue, characterizing it as another fake news.

“Five days is the norm. It is the possibility for an extra day of work. The new measure concerns very specific businesses that operate 24 hours a day, such as factories with rolling shifts that work even 7 days in a row. The extra working day will be paid plus 40%, plus 115% if it is a Sunday and a holiday. All these are measures that come to shield the worker” noted the minister.
