Abha: The body of Subhash, who died of smoke inhalation in Khamis Mushait, Saudi Arabia, was brought home and cremated by the Indian Social Forum. Subhash, 41, son of Devan Rohini couple, died at his Subhash Bhavan in Pathanamthitta district after inhaling smoke from a fire prepared to escape the extreme cold. Subhash, who arrived on a house driver’s visa two years ago, was working as a house driver for a local citizen near Athoot Dam in Khamis.

As it was winter in the province of Azir, he found relief from the cold by lighting a fire in his room at night, and on the day of his death, as usual, he slept by the fire in the paint pit. In the absence of relatives or other relatives, his wife and other family members in the country came to know about his request for his body to be brought home and the family issued a power of attorney in the name of Muneer Chakkuvalli, Vice President, Khamis Block. After completing the legal process in Saudi Arabia, Azir led by Indian Social Forum State President Koya Chelempra, State Vice President Hanifa Chalippuram, Jeddah Indian Social Forum Welfare Team members Noushad Mambat and Hassainar Mayara Mangalam sent the body home.

The body was taken to Kochi Nedumbassery Airport by SDPI state committee member Ansari Enath, district committee member Shaji Pazhakulam, constituency secretary Samad Mannady and Shaju Pazhakulam in an SDPI ambulance to Subhash’s house. The body was cremated by family members and locals after the funeral.
