Big win for Kerala against Tripura in Vijay Hazare Trophy. In the Group A match, Kerala defeated Tripura by 119 runs and came second in the group. Kerala, who batted first, were all out for 231 runs, while Tripura, who came into bat in reply, were bowled out for 112 runs. Azhar and Rohan Kunnummal gave Kerala a good start. Rohan (44) returned after a long first wicket partnership of 95 runs. Soon Mohammad Azharuddin was also out. With captain Sanju Samson (1), Sachin Baby (12) and Vishnu Vinod (2) coming back quickly, Kerala slumped to 131 for the loss of 5 wickets. Akhil Skaria (22) and Shreyas Gopal (41 off 38 balls) combined for the sixth wicket to take Kerala. The 59-run sixth wicket partnership fell apart when Shreyas Gopal was dismissed. In reply, Tripura kept losing wickets. Tripura could not challenge Kerala even at one stage of the innings. A total of three players crossed the double figure. Rajat Dey, who scored 46 runs off 34 balls, fought alone but it was not enough. The player was dismissed as the last wicket. Vaishakh Chandran took two wickets for Kerala while Shreyas Gopal took Rajat Dey’s wicket.
