Thiruvananthapuram – The Navkerala bus, which was ‘full’ of Kerala politics for a month, has been ‘put to work’ once more. As part of the New Kerala Yatra, the bus in which the Chief Minister and the ministers were traveling was taken to a bus manufacturing company in Bengaluru. The maintenance is done before KSRTC’s budget is used for the tourism project.

Changes will be made including the Chief Minister’s ‘spinning seat’ and ‘lift’ to help him get into the bus, which was in the news before the trip. It has been decided to move this seat and keep it at the central works at Pappanam. The windows of the bus will be changed but the washroom will be maintained. The officials also stated that the bus will be brought back to Kerala within two weeks.

The bus was handed over for a ‘facelift’ following the end of the Ernakulam tour of the New Kerala Congress. The bus prepared at a cost of one crore five lakh rupees was made by Bengaluru’s SM. It was set up by Kannappa Automobiles. The opposition had come out with severe criticism once morest the purchase of the bus. Meanwhile, the government had already clarified that the bus would be handed over to KSRTC following its journey to Navakerala.

CPM central committee member A. K. Balan was in the news when he said that if they decided to sell the ‘cabinet bus’ in which the chief minister and ministers traveled following the New Kerala meeting, they would get double the price of the purchase price. Many have already expressed their willingness to buy. If the bus is kept in the museum following 15 years, lakhs of people will come to see it as the bus that the Chief Minister and ministers traveled on. Therefore, he said that there should be no publicity regarding the loss of the bus.
