The doctors’ organizations intensified their protest over the killing of Dr. Vandana Das. After the strike announcement by IMA, KGMOA also announced that the strike will continue till today. The doctors put forward 8 demands, including bringing the new law as an ordinance. KGMOA has decided to boycott VIP duty until the safety of health workers is ensured. The Chief Minister will hold talks with the doctors’ organizations today as the protests intensify. The discussion will be held at 10.30 am.

Following are the requirements of doctors
1 Issue an ordinance amending the Hospital Protection Act within one week.
2 Enhance security in hospitals by introducing security systems including CCTV and appointing trained ex-servicemen as security personnel.
3 Deploy armed reserve police and establish police aid posts in health facilities where the emergency department operates
4 Immediately implement the government order regarding triage systems in emergency departments.
5 Establish facilities in jails for medical examination of people in police custody and appoint more doctors on duty in jails.
6 Take exemplary action once morest the policemen who committed misconduct.
7 Take steps to appoint more CMOs in emergency department so that 2 CMOs can be included in a shift
The brutal murder that shook Kerala took place on the morning of 10th of this month. 22-year-old Vandana was brutally stabbed to death by a female doctor, Sandeep House Surgeon, who was brought by the police to the Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital for a medical examination. A native of Kottayam Muttuchira, Dr Vandana Das is the only daughter of KG Mohandas, a trader in Kottayam Muttuchira, and Vasantakumari. Sandeep Nedumbana, a native of Kuvatur, is a UP school teacher. He was suspended from service. The police say that the accused is addicted to drugs.
