Kerala Blasters-Bengaluru FC Fan Clash; Work is coming for those who led

Kochi: Unpleasant incidents took place during the Indian Super League match between Bengaluru FC and Kerala Blasters on Sunday. In the match which was held at Bengaluru’s home ground Srikanthirava Stadium, there were head-to-head clashes between the fans of both the teams. Blasters fans have alleged that Bengaluru FC fans shouted obscenities and spat at women and families. Following this, Blasters fans intervened and the incident turned violent.

Both the clubs have come out to condemn the incident of violence. Kerala Blasters and Bengaluru FC issued a joint statement condemning the fan clash. Both the clubs explain that… “Both the clubs are taking the untoward incidents following the match very seriously. Both clubs strongly condemn such clashes between fans. Both clubs will fully cooperate in identifying those responsible for provoking the incidents and taking further action.

Southern rivalry, which generates a lot of viewership and is celebrated by fans in Indian football, requires the necessary support and cooperation from all stakeholders to maintain a healthy stadium environment. “Efforts will continue to ensure safe matches and to reiterate that violence has no place in football,” the clubs said in a statement.

Blasters lost the match. BFC’s victory was scored by Roy Krishna in the first half. This is Bengaluru’s sixth straight win of the season. Had they won, the Yellow Army would have reached the playoffs. In the first half of the crucial match, Bengaluru FC maintained the advantage they gained in the 32nd minute at home. The first half ended with Bengaluru in the lead as star striker Roy Krishna scored off an assist from Javi Fernandes. Roy Krishna scored the winning goal through a gap in the Blasters defence. On the other side, the players including Sahal Abdul Samad tried to move the net in both halves but were unsuccessful. KP Rahul was withdrawn in the 73rd minute and Sahal Abdul Samad was withdrawn in the 82nd minute to no avail.
