Kendrick Lamar is Billboard number one with “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers”

K. Dot signs the best start of 2022.

Obviously, it’s anything but a surprise, Kendrick Lamar is logically number one in sales in the United States with his latest album, “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers”. This fifth long format ended its first week with 295,000 equivalent units sold. If this is very far from the forecast since the figures were around 500,000, it is still the best start for a record in 2022. It breaks the record recently obtained by Future and “I NEVER LIKED YOU” with 220,000 and Bad Bunny with “Un Verano Sin Ti” and 274,000.

Can we really be surprised by K. Dot’s figures? The expectation was such that we suspected that it would make a very important first week. It should also be noted that this is the Compton rapper’s fourth sequel project to be number one on the Billboard charts, a record that should not be underestimated.

This is obviously not the only record of “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers”. Some time following the release of the project, Apple Music announced that Kendrick Lamar’s opus was the one that had generated the most streams during its launch for an album released in 2022.

For the record, “Damn” had finished the first week at 603,000 units in 2017 while “To Pimp a Butterfly” achieved 324,000 units in 2015 and “Good Kid, MAAD City” managed 242,000 for its launch in 2012.

Not necessarily super easy to access during the first listens, there is no doubt that the numbers of “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers” will continue to grow as listeners discover the different layers it contains.
