As expected, Kemba Walker’s time as a member of the Detroit Pistons will be short-lived. Like Adrian Wojnarowski from ESPN reported, the parties involved are finalizing a buyout. After going through the waiver list, the four-time All-Star would become a free agent.
Walker was traded to Detroit from the New York Knicks last week. Additionally, the Pistons received the 13th pick in the draft from the Charlotte Hornets, who picked Jalen Duren with that center. This was immediately passed on to Detroit by the Knicks, with the departure of Walker Cap Space should be created.
While the Pistons have built up a young core around No. 5 pick Jaden Ivey, Duren and Cade Cunningham, Saddiq Bey, Isaiah Stewart and Killian Hayes, there is no room for Walker. In the coming season he still collects 9.2 million dollars from Detroit, there should not be a lack of interested parties on the open market for a corresponding price.
At the end of February, Walker was sidelined for the remainder of the season with the Knicks. Before that, the point guard, who suffered from knee problems, had 11.6 points and 3.0 rebounds in 37 games.
