Professional volleyball KB Insurance’s Mali native Keita Nomori and Hyundai Engineering & Construction Center Yang Hyo-jin were selected as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the 2021-2022 V League Regular League.
Keita won the men’s regular league MVP at the Dodram 2021-2022 season V-League awards ceremony held at the Grand Hyatt Seoul Hotel in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
Keita received 23 out of 31 votes in the press vote, easily beating Kwak Seung-seok (7 votes) of Korean Air, who achieved the unified championship (regular league 1st place, championship match win).
Keita took the top scorer for two consecutive seasons with a new V-League record of 1,285 points this season, taking the lead in KB Insurance’s 2nd place in the regular league and advance to the first championship game.
Keita is the second male MVP in history from a team that did not take first place in the regular league, and the fourth in male and female history.
In the men’s division, Moon Seong-min (Hyundai Capital) was selected as the MVP for the team’s 2nd place in the regular league in the 2016-2017 season in the men’s division, and in the women’s division, Jung Dae-young (then Hyundai E&C) in the 2005 season and Kim Yeon-kyung (Heungkuk Life Insurance) in the 2020-2021 season in the regular league 1 Even though he didn’t make it to the top, he was selected as the MVP.
In the women’s division, Hyojin Yang of Hyundai E&C was honored with the second MVP award in her career.
Yang Hyo-jin received overwhelming support, receiving 28 out of 31 votes in the MVP voting.
Yang Hyo-jin was the highest among domestic players in the regular league scoring this season and ranked 7th overall (502 points), and also took the title in blocking (0.744 per set), leading Hyundai E&C to first place in the regular league.
Yang Hyo-jin, who won the first MVP since her debut following the league ended prematurely due to COVID-19 two years ago, was selected as the MVP without a trophy due to the early termination of the league once more this time.
Keita and Yang Hyo-jin received the MVP trophy and a cash prize of 5 million won.
The Rookie of the Year award went to OK Financial Group left, Seungsu Park, and the Rookie of the Year award went to Korea Expressway Corporation’s setter, Yunjeong Lee.
