The “Kinema Junpo Best Ten” is the longest-running film award in Japan, sponsored by the film magazine “Kinema Junpo”.

This time, the 96th time, the audience was invited for the first time in three years, and the award ceremony was held on the 1st. Individual awards have been announced.

Of these, among the Japanese films, “Keiko, keep your eyes open,” directed by Sho Miyake, which portrays a woman who continues to stand in the ring as a professional boxer in women’s boxing while facing hearing impairment, took first place.

Director Miyake, who was also selected for the “Reader’s Choice Japanese Film Director Award”, said at the award ceremony, “When I was writing the scenario, the movie theater might not be opened yet, and many athletes played games without spectators. In that context, I wanted to depict the appeal of sports and the thrilling battles.”

Actor Yukino Kishii, who played the main character Keiko and won the Best Actress Award, said with joy, “I am honored to be able to play the lead role in a scene where everyone can take a step forward.”

Actor Tomokazu Miura, who played the chairman of a boxing gym in this work, was also selected for the Best Supporting Actor Award.

On the other hand, among foreign movies, Paul Thomas Anderson’s youth romantic movie “Lycorice Pizza” was ranked first.

The second and lower works in each category will be announced in the magazine “Kinema Junpo”, which will be released on the 3rd.
