‘Keep me posted, it can’t be true'”

A tragic accident occurred this Saturday evening around 7:30 p.m. in Tielt-Winge. While driving on the road, Yoke De Boeck, a 19-year-old motorist, lost control of his vehicle for an as yet unknown reason. No other car is involved and, according to witnesses, the young man was not driving at excessive speed. Our colleagues from HLN report that the driver hit a tree head-on before ending his race in a field. He had no seat belt and was ejected.

After an outing at the Rock Wrechter festival the day before, Yoke had planned to go to the Tremelo brederie this Saturday evening. He was to join several of his colleagues there: “I still got it online at 6:50 p.m.,” said Sheila, one of his colleagues, at Laatste Nieuws. “He had to go to his aunt’s and then join us. We spent the evening there with colleagues, but he never arrived. At 9 p.m., we tried to call him. Then at 10:15 p.m., my boss called us to tell us that he had had an accident”.

Sheila didn’t immediately understand that the young man had died: “I still can’t believe it. Saturday evening, when we understood that there was something, I sent him a message: ‘Keep me posted, it can’t be true’”.

Yoke worked since last March for the company Veralu, in Beerzel. He was considered a hard worker. He was regarding to receive a contract.
