Keep going! Galaxy S22 will not be discontinued

A Samsung introduced the line Galaxy S23 on February 1st. The three models are available for pre-sale in several markets, including Brazil, with prices starting at R$5,999. As soon as a new generation is announced, the company usually discontinues the previous year’s models, but this time that will not happen, at least for the Galaxy S22which will continue to be sold — and the reason makes perfect sense.

permanence in the market

During the line launch event Galaxy S23a Samsung revealed that it will keep the Galaxy S22 in the market. To attract public attention and increase sales, the company even reduced the price in the United States, from US$ 799 to US$ 699.

With that, the 2022 model is now $100 cheaper than the entry-level version of the Galaxy S23. On the other hand, the South Korean giant decided to discontinue the Galaxy S22 Plus e S22 Ultra.

Galaxy S22

A Samsung did not explain the reason for keeping the Galaxy S22 in stores, but it is speculated that this decision is related to the delay in Galaxy S22 FE that, so far, we don’t even know if it will actually reach the market. Therefore, the version released last year should fill this FE line price gap.

In Brazil, the Galaxy S22 128 GB is available on the Samsung for BRL 4,499, BRL 1,500 cheaper than the standard version of Galaxy S23. O Galaxy S22 Plus e S22 Ultra are listed on the company’s page, but only the second is still sold for R$ 7,599. However, he is also expected to exit the portfolio soon.
