KBL board of directors does not allow the name change of the Goyang Carrot club

KBL, which hosts professional basketball, did not allow the name change of the Goyang Carrot team.

KBL held the 28th 3rd Board of Directors meeting at the KBL Center on the 24th and rejected the case of changing the name of the Goyang Carrot club.

Goyang Carrot currently uses the club name ‘Goyang Carrot Jumpers’, but recently terminated the contract with the naming sponsor, Carrot Insurance, and requested KBL to change the club name to Goyang Day One Jumpers.

However, at the board meeting on this day, with less than a week left in the 2022-2023 regular season, it was judged that the club name change was not appropriate and did not pass this agenda.

Goyang Carrot is at the center of controversy in the professional basketball world this season due to financial issues. It acquired and refounded the existing Goyang Orion basketball team and joined professional basketball in the 2022-2023 season, but when management deteriorated, such as the parent company, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, went into a corporate rehabilitation process, the payment of player salaries was delayed and the first portion of the subscription fee to be paid to KBL The normal club operation is not possible, such as delayed payment of 500 million won.

Goyang Carrot announced that it would pay the second subscription fee by 6:00 pm on the 31st, the deadline for payment, but it is unclear whether this promise will be properly fulfilled.
